One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News & Opinion for October 23, 2017

Sympathy to all fire victims in California. Deepest sympathy to all homeless people. I saw some buy the road in Billings. (Malta has its own homeless lady, she sometimes sleeps in the public bathroom in Veteran’s Memorial Park.) How terrible. The USA is the richest country in the world and we have homeless living on the streets. Here’s a real solution: there are many abandoned farm and ranch houses all across the country and many apartment buildings, too. They could be fixed up for the homeless.

Thanks to the 4-H Club for the cookies!

Congratulations to Big Flat Electric Co-op on their repair work and all they did after the recent snow storms which affected most of Phillips County. Also, thanks and congratulations to the manager and staff who cooked delicious meals for the meeting. More importantly, thanks for the great prizes given always. Linda Berg, Bob and Pat Anderson, Sally Austin, Jim Murdock, and Richard and Pat Dunbar all won meat! Bob Anderson also won money; Ree Simonson won a cup and others won gifts. I myself won a hair cutting set. (Anyone want a haircut?)

News from Puerto Rico, the island has been really destroyed and they need help. There is a fundraiser at First Security Bank; Box 730, Malta MT, 59538.

Congratulations to Jean Green of Whitewater (who won the prize meat) in a drawing somewhere.

Salute to Sue Olsen for the beautiful fall decorations in front of the North 40.

Patty Young and others went to the Norsk Hostfest in Minot, N. D., They sampled many foods and had a good time.

Congratulations to Saco’s Chris DePuydt who eon a trip to Washington D.C. from Big Flat. He spoke at the Big Flat meal.

It is a beautiful day here in Whitewater. The only sad thing is the cattle are bawling in the stockyards. The babies are separated from moms. Most are being shipped. Poor cows and calves.

Have a good day anyway.

Helen. A.
