Class C Teams in Wolf Point

Mavs outlast Bainville, Dodson picks up win

The North Country Mavericks won an 91-85 overtime thriller over Bainville at the Wolf Point Showcase last Saturday, December 9, but they weren't the only Class C team from Phillips County to broadcast their talents on the eastside of the Hi-Line.

The Lady Mavericks, Dodson Coyotes and Lady Coyotes also saw action in Wolf Point.

In the Maverick's win over Bainville, Trace Simonson scored a game-high 37 points, 35 of which came in the second half and overtime period. He was 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.

Loden Idler had 22 points and knocked down three treys. Wrangler Jones had 11 points, Ty Murphy had nine points, Austin Leatherberry and Chris DePuydt had four points, Jon Taylor had three points and Jesse Lee had one point.

Bainville's Davey Win hit nine treys on his way to 43 points.

Regulation ended with both teams tied at 76 points. North Country outscored Bainville 15-9 in the overtime period, while going 6-of-8 from the free throw line in overtime. Bainville was 3-for-7 in the same period.

Dodson was able to pick up a victory over 3C foe Lustre Christian that same day, defeating the Lions 41-39 in regulation.

Shaun Ball led the Coyotes with 16. Corbin LoneBear had 12 points. Jeramiah Benson had five points, David Jaynes and Caleb Ditmar had three points and Tyrese Messerly had two points.

The Coyotes and Mavericks squared up Friday, December 8, and the Mavericks won 67-50.

The Mavs were led by Simonson who had 20 points. Simonson had three treys. Lee had 12, Jones had 10, Leatherberry had nine points, Taylor had six, Murphy and Idler had four points.

Dodson was led by Ball who had 26 points. LoneBear and Jaynes each had seven points, Messerly had four, Michael Jaynes, Kadin Racine and Ditmar each had two points.

The Lady Mavericks and Lady Coyotes faced each other on Friday, December 8, and the Lady Mavs won 53-27.

Jada Sudbrack had a game leading 16 points. Mickayla Johnson had 11 points. Kaitlyn McColly had eight points, Kelsee Cummings and Kia Wasson both had six, Bailey had three points, Casity Boucher had two points and Jaydyn Erickson had one point.
