Dairymen stop sale of whipping cream

Malta dairymen have discontinued the sale of whipping cream, perhaps for the duration of the war, in compliance with an order issued by the war production board.

The purpose of this order is to help relieve the serious butter shortage and to prolong the sale of cream and perhaps avert the necessity of milk rationing. The order is to be strictly enforced in this community. However, so-called coffee cream, testing not over 21-percent butterfat, may still be marketed and will sell in Malta for the time being for 12 cents per half pint.

Montana auto owners were reminded by A. T. Peterson, state OPA director, that the expiration date of the No. 3 coupon in the A: gasoline ration book is Jan. 21, instead of Jan. 31.

Motorists were urged to plan their travel so that mileage can be equitable during the period. If No. 3 gas coupons are not used by Jan. 21, they will be void.

Tramp, Tramp, Tramp, the boys are marching

Sections of windows in the old bowling alley were removed Sunday to move the six alleys intact from the old location to the new bowling center being constructed on 1st Ave. East. The new building, in addition to the six bowling alleys, will house a recreation area for pool tables, a lounge and coffee shop and ample seating for bowlers and spectators. The main entrance will be on the parking lot, south of the building, and an entrance into the recreation area will be directly across the street from the Valley Drug Co.

Moving the six 3,500-pound, 60-foot long bowling alleys from the Mustang Lanes to their new location in the new bowling center presented quite a problem in logistics. However, taking a tip from the builders of the Great Wall of China, Chug Johnson, prop., and Roger Ereaux, rounded up about 56 men last Sunday and did the job worthwhile. The men gathered Sunday at 1 p.m. and the lanes were moved by 4:30 p.m. Machinery was moved later.
