M-ettes fall to Roundup

Denham scores 27 points in loss to Rocky Boy

The Malta M-ettes were defeated in their first two games of the 2018 calendar year falling to Rocky Boy on Friday, January 5 and then Roundup on Saturday, January 6.

The young team showed feistiness in their loss to Rocky Boy, forcing 21 turnovers that netted the team 19 points.

The M-ettes were led by sophomore Kelbee Denham who scored 27 points, four rebounds and three steals. Kyleigh Schipman had seven points, four rebounds and four steals.

Freshman Erica Smith had a game high six steals, five rebounds and four points. Taylor Eggebrecht and Taylor Gilkerson each had seven rebounds.

Malta was up 24-22 at halftime, but was outscored 19-7 in the third period.

In the team's 50-32 loss to Roundup, Malta was led by Denham, who had seven points. Kloie Marks and Raina Mortenson each had five points, Ella Schye, Gilkerson and Carly Garfield each had four points.

Malta only had seven turnovers in the game, which was a vast improvement from a night prior in which they turned the ball over more than 20 times.

Malta forced 15 turnovers and scored 11 points in transition. Malta was 1-of-15 from the three point line (6%) and 11-of-46 (23%) from the field but the team knocked down 9-of-14 (64%) from the charity stripe.

Eleven of the team's points came from the bench.

The team is scheduled to see Glasgow on Friday, January 12 in Glasgow. The team will return to Malta to face Shelby on Saturday, January 13.
