One Nation, Under God

Loring News for February 14, 2018

Just when I am thinking the winter is just too long, the seed catalog shows up in the mail! How does that happen on just the right day? Tom had decided not to plant a garden, but I think he will put in a few things!

Congratulations to Trey Simanton and Luke Lawless on their performances at the State Wrestling tournament. Trey got 3rd and Luke took 6th!

The district basketball tourney is coming up this next weekend! Good luck to the North Country Mavericks!

I am so thankful to those people who move snow off the roads, the state crew, county crews and individuals like Kenny Clark! You are appreciated!

I got a call from Sally Austin who had read my column last week where I commented about the super bowl. She just agreed with me about not knowing much about football. When Sally was in eighth grade she had to take a test from the county superintendent and she said there were several football questions which she didn't know. But she passed eighth grade even so!

Tom and I are enjoying the Olympics on television, skiing, luge, triathlon, and waiting for skating. Also, the curling is fun to watch!

We have had such cold snowy weather, I sometimes feel bad for the animals who have to stay outside! I always feel bad for the caretakers who brave the blizzard conditions to take feed to the cows and horses. One of my neighbors has farrowed a few litters of pigs and they are protected with the lamps and special pens! They'll be ready for the fair!

We still have a few snowbirds down south. But they'll be home in a few days or weeks! Shout out to Craig and Sherry Ottinger who used to live in Loring, but moved to Malta many years ago!

Stay safe, everyone! Spring will be here soon!
