One Nation, Under God

Dodson News for February 21, 2018

The Dodson Coyotes started the Class C basketball tournament with a hard-fought victory of 50-48 over Lustre giving the fans who were able to attend a hair-raising, cheering time. Great job, boys. They played hard again in their second game but ended up losing that one.

Tuesday was a beautiful day with the temperature getting up into the high 30's, but Wednesday turned cold again, with wind and some snow starting about 4 p.m. It has been below zero every night since, and it snowed again on Saturday night, giving us about 5 inches of new soft snow. Last Sunday night again saw 41 below.

The entire town and school were shocked by the sudden and certainly unexpected death of the Bus System owner and driver, Bob Voice on Monday afternoon. He was a good friend, businessman (he had the Bus service for the school for several years) and was good to everyone. He was married to the former Tammy Thackeray and sympathy and condolences are sent to Tammy and the entire Voice and Thackeray families. A Memorial Service will be held at the School on Saturday, March 3.

Ash Wednesday services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church and at the Lutheran church at 6 p.m. It was nice to have Sharon Thackeray, who was staying with Tammy for a few days, join us for services.

They were kind enough on Sunday to taxi us seniors to church in four-wheel drives. Dakota was out early cleaning the parking lots and the main streets.

No lunch was served at the Waputau Center ,as it could not get plowed out in time.

Terri Cole was in Malta on business on Thursday.

Happy Birthday greetings to all having a Birthday these cold snowy days and a special wish to Berta Anderson as she has another one.
