One Nation, Under God

Can't wait for Spring

This has been a brutal winter and I am glad I have experienced it with you.

Going around town last week, I have talked to quite a few people who have told me that this was the roughest winter Montana has had in a long time. Many of those people have told me this has been the roughest winter that they have ever experienced here.

Having only lived here for six winters, the winters that I have experienced in Phillips County have been really mild, and this is the first rough winter. This is also the roughest I have experienced as a homeowner.

I am thankful for the one-stage snow blower that I bought from my neighbors, but I will admit it has been a struggle to stay on top of the snow on my driveway. I am extremely thankful for my neighbors, who have graciously helped move snow off of my driveway this past season.

I have seen a few snowmobiles running around town, and I just have to say that I never in my life thought I would see that! I also never thought that I would see a small herd of deer live in the same town that I do.

The truth is that Malta has given me a lot of firsts, including driving into snow drifts on the highway. To be honest at times, when I am driving in snowy conditions I pretend I’m in an episode of Ice Road Truckers.

In previous years I have been fortunate enough to miss icy road conditions and snow drifts along Highway 2. Not so much this season.

There have even been a couple of times I thought that the roads would be closed heading back from Havre during my paper runs.

With my wife being so close to labor and PJ being sick a lot of the winter, I have made less road trips this past winter than in previous years.

With the conditions being so harsh this past winter, I have learned a few things, but the most important thing is to adjust and remember to thank God that there are no mosquitoes.

The baby’s room is ready. PJ has received a major upgrade as far as sleeping goes. He went from a crib to big boy bed. Susan is happy that the room is done but is counting down the days. For those curious, the due date is March 30, which is also Good Friday.
