One Nation, Under God

Out of thin air

News does travel fast in a small town. Sometimes that news is definitely fake.

As of Monday, March 13, I have had no intentions of quitting my job here at the PCN or mov-ing, or anything like that. But twice last week and once the week before citizens of our fine County have approached me about leaving the PCN.

Unless I hit the lotto, I think it’s safe to say I am sticking around.

I never thought I would be the center of a rumor. Truth is this wasn’t the first time I have been the subject of a rumor here.

On more than one occasion, someone has said to me or my wife, that they thought that I had packed my bags and left. Not in a joking way.

I was taught at a very young age not to spread rumors.

I kind of think that rumors got us where we are now as a country. Divided.

Our country is consumed by rumors and half-truths. This issue exists on all sides of the political spectrum. It doesn’t matter where you sit politically, I guarantee that you have been lied too. Yes, your heroes will say or do anything for a vote.

Back to me. Let me dispel all rumors about me leaving my job and or family. I love my family. I love what I do. I love Phillips County. I hate the snow, but I love Phillips County.

I am super proud of our county and all of the citizens that I have had the chance to interview and get to know through my time at the PCN. I will continue to try to write out our County’s history week-by-week unless we hit the lotto, I find buried treasure, or someone makes me an offer I cannot refuse (Godfather's voice).

I had to talk to my son about not being a bully to younger kids the other day. I said, “One day that kid you are being mean to may have to save your life.”

After hearing it, my wife and I determined that I went way too deep. We just told him that he always needs to be nice to other kids and to adults. Always.
