Sylvia Zenith Kaasa

Malta - Sylvia Zenith Kaasa, 77, House Keeper and Seamstress, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, May 6, 2018.

Sylvia was born September 10th, 1940 in Malta Mont., the oldest child of Ben Schwarz and Dorothy (Hoffman) Baum. She married Carl Kaasa July 7, 1956, and together they raised their four children; Carolyn Raye, Geraldine Mae, David Allen, and Dale John.

Sylvia devoted her life to her family, friends, and community. She spent many years providing childcare in Malta and also ironing for many clients. Sylvia began working at the Malta Hospital in approximately 1976, in the housekeeping and laundry departments until her health would no longer allow it. She enjoyed visiting, playing bingo and cards. She was most happy to spend her days fishing and camping. Sylvia also loved to sew. She dedicated herself to making clothes for her family. Her work was also evident in the many beautiful quilts she made over the years.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Carl, mother and step-father Dorothy and Bud Baum, father and step-mother Ben and Berniece Schwarz, brother Larry Schwarz, and infant grandson Scott Ferrell.

She is survived and loved by; daughters, Carolyn Ferrell and Geraldine Petersen of Malta; sons, David (Dawn) Kaasa of Havre and Dale Kaasa of Malta, Mont .; sisters, Christine Leo of Harlem and Cynthia (Lonie) Lougheed of Clarkston, Wash .; brothers, Roger (Cece) Schwarz of Billings, Bill (Patty) Schwarz of Sheridan, Mont., Dan (Julia) Schwarz of Dillion; 11 grandchildren; Lisa, Sarah, Sandra, Eric, Sam, Jennifer, Amy, Elizabeth, Azalea, Tristen, and Aidan, 7 great grandchildren: Rylan, Ireland, Alana, Cassius, Elin, Acacia, and Evita and several nieces and nephews.

She will be greatly missed by her family, her many friends, and all who knew her.

Her family would like to give a special thanks to the Hi-Line Retirement Center's management and staff for the care and love they have provided her. Also, a thank you to the staff at the Phillips County Medical facility and her physicians for all the wonderful care they have given her.
