Local eateries to reward youths for reading

Kaille Davis, who will be a fifth grade student at Malta Elementary next year, reads a book on birds at the PC Library on Thursday afternoon as she completes an early extra credit essay for Mrs. Barb Buechler's class.

The Phillips County Library has a music theme this summer for its reading program. We encourage preschoolers, through coming high school seniors; to sign up and earn an award for every five hours of reading up to 40 hours. Sign up has begun to help avoid the "summer slump."

It is with great appreciation that the library thanks its sponsors who make the summer reading program such a success. The library has a selection of various items for all the readers who make the first five hours of reading time.
