Ann Claire (Ledbetter) Snyder

Ann Claire (Ledbetter) Snyder passed away peacefully on January 28, 2018, following a lengthy battle with COPD. Graveside services will be Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Malta Cemetery. Condolences for the family may be left at http://www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com.

A devoted wife and loving mother, Ann was born in Anniston, Ala., on March 26, 1938. She spent her early years in Alabama, until, in her early teens, her family moved to Soda Springs, Idaho. She attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where she met and fell in love with Paul T. Snyder, who was going through pilot training for the US Air Force at Reese Air Force Base. They were married June 27, 1959, and were assigned to Malmstrom Air Force Base later that year. During their stay in Great Falls, Ann taught English at Paris Gibson Junior High until the birth of their son, Kenneth, in 1962. Paul was later transferred to Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, Texas., where their daughter, Susan, was born in 1966. After Paul left the Air Force and went to work for Western Airlines in 1968, the family settled in Kent, Wash., where they lived until 1985, when Ann and Paul moved to Whitefish, Mont. In 2006 Ann and Paul returned to Great Falls where she spent the remainder of her years.

Ann had an eye for photography and captured many beautiful photographs from her travels around the United States. Though she loved to travel, the place she loved the most was the family cabin Paul built in Glacier National Park north of Polebridge, where she and the family spent many happy times over the years. After she and Paul returned to Great Falls, Ann resumed old friendships and acquired many new friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with friends and classmates of Paul's from Malta and the Phillips County area, as well as many other friends from Great Falls.

Ann is survived by her husband, Paul, her sister Karen "Kay" Womack (Bill) of Boise, Idaho, her son Kenneth and his wife Donna of Spring, Texas., and her daughter Susan McNay and her husband Lindsay of Great Falls. She has four grandchildren, Carson and his wife Bri, Kari McNay, and Robin and Kevin Snyder, and one great-grandchild Josie McNay. She was predeceased by her parents, Orva Leta (Irving) Ledbetter and Jules Alford Ledbetter.
