Trophies for Fourth of July Demolition Derby ... July 11, 1918

The Phillips County Farm Bureau was taking steps toward asking the federal government for assistance for needy farmers. "Crop conditions have been such during the past two years, that unless a large number of our farmers can secure assistance this year they will be unable to continue farming operations another year."


The streets of Malta were being graded and fixed "as good as possible to fix gumbo roads without paving or gravel." The expense of grading one block on Fifth Avenue was estimated at $25. Work was done under the supervision of Engineer Hanscom wit...
