Saco Fun Days Buttons for sale

Over a couple dozen events are about to hit Saco from Friday, August 31 to Sunday, September 2, as the Town of Saco celebrates their 55th Annual Saco Fun Days event.

The town is also celebrating another major milestone.

"It's the centennial celebration of the town being incorporated," said Lacey Beil, the first year President of the Saco Chamber. "It is a big family event and the community really comes together."

The Saco Chamber of Commerce is selling Saco Fun Day buttons for the occasion in which participants can purchase buttons for $3 each, making them eligible for a plethora of prizes including the top three grand prizes: including a $500 Visa Gift Card, Traeger Grill and a patio set.

"We have lots of prizes and about 1,000 buttons to sell this year," Beil said.

The event officially kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Shop as Pay N Save hosts a Pot Luck Dinner, which will includes beef donated and prepared by Pay N Save.

At 7 p.m. Friday night Nick Kuehl will be hosting a Cornhole Tournament at the Motel Breezeway. At 8 p.m. OK Olson & Runaway will provide musical entertainment on Front Street.

On Saturday Morning there will be an Art & Quilt show to kick the day off at 9 a.m.

The Fun Days Parade will be held at 11 a.m., followed by a Saco Chamber Feed at noon.

According to Beil, the Chamber Feed typically feeds 1,000 but since it is an alumni year, the Chamber expects more people.

The button draw in which entrees must be present to win starts at 1 p.m. at the Town Shop.

For the first time in five years, the Fun Days event will feature a Demolition Derby hosted by Milk River Motorsports from Glasgow at 3:00 in the Demolition Field by the town's water tower along with a free bbq feed. There will be a Minnow Race Calcutta on Front Street at 6:30 followed by the Minnow Races at 7 p.m. and then Bullriding (mechanical) hosted by Lexie Haynes at 8 p.m.

Saturday's last event will be OK Olson & Runaway at 9 p.m.

Sunday will start with Alumni coffee and cookies at the Town Shop.

There will be an Alumni Softball Tourney at the baseball field by the water tower.

The final event of Saco Fun Days will be Horseshoes at Miller Park hosted by Clint Simpson.
