One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News and Opinion for August 22, 2018

Sympathy to the victims of the floods in Penn. (Too bad we don’t have some rain here.)

Sympathy to the victims and fire fighters in the many fires in Montana and across the USA, especially in Cali in which homes burned.

Here in Whitewater, we often smell the smoke from the fires. Also the atmosphere is foggy from smoke coming from miles away.

Get well to Lu Besel’s sister Carol Williams of Landusky, Mont.

The Fort Peck Theatre is always good. Linda Berg and I went Saturday night to “The Little Mermaid,” a children’s show. My past favorite was “Sound of Music” and “Buddy Holly Story.” Jeff and Julie Cole are working at the theatre. Thanks to them for helping us secure last minute tickets and they bought mine.

Well it is hard to believe that summer is almost over and school is starting. Whitewater School began August 15. (We never started until September after Labor Day.)

Whitewater School has one new teacher who teaches science. Her name is Carli Prestwich. Welcome to her. There are five new students in school. Welcome to them and their families. One WHS student is an exchange student from Spain! (I will try to interview her later.) The exchange student is welcomed by all of Whitewater.

Pastor Bob Nagy from Malta Lutheran Church was the “Swim Dad,” at the State Swim Meet. Congratulations to him and his daughter Erika Nagy, also Jahmiah (Mya) LaBrie and all swimmers.

Jeanie Green and two senior grandchildren flew to South Carolina and Florida. They met Pat (Ivanovitch) Donich and stayed at Pat’s daughter’s house. Pat had two grandchildren accompany her. They all had fun.

Weather has been extremely hot and dry. One day reached 103 above. Today is cooler with a breeze. Montana is so changeable. Some ranchers are haying, some farms are combining. Good luck to all!

“Goodbye and Good Luck,” to Calvin Reichelt, who is moving to Colorado. We will miss you.

The two students from Clemson University are moving back to South Carolina. They have been working on the “Swift Fox,” project in this area.

They said, “We learned a lot in Whitewater, MT.” Good bye and good luck to them. God speed to all who are leaving.

Helen A.
