One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News and Opinion for September 5, 2018

Sympathy and prayer to the family of Micky Hellie. He was a lifelong Whitewater resident and a farmer in the area. Mickey will be missed by all.

Lisa Baxter (who represents the Area Agency on Aging for Eastern Montana) was in Whitewater and spoke at the Senior Citizen Meal last Wednesday. It was an interesting meeting as was very well attended.

Gale Wilcott’s mom, Linda Frisbee, has been visiting her in Whitewater. She returned home. We wish her well, and good luck.

Albertsons grocery store in Malta had a great picnic which had a huge attendance including myself. There were music and even a bubble machine; that was nice, maybe I will buy one.

While in Malta, I rode the Phillips County Transit bus. I got to visit with other riders who are old, dear friends like Winnie French and Anna Hotchkiss. Anna was a distant relative of the Hotchkiss family, who owned a small ranch outside of Whitewater, now called the “Youth Ranch.”

Whitewater School is in full swing. There are five new families in school. (I have not met them all yet.)

It is hard to believe it is September. Summer was fun but it went fast and was hot and dry. We had a nice rain (almost a half inch) and it made the grass greener and the smoke clear.

Happy birthday to all September birthdays and anniversaries.

Thanks to George Soennichsen and Mr. Engels for the fresh and lovely vegetable they brought to give to the seniors at the dinner Wednesday. It was very generous.
