One Nation, Under God

Loring News for October 10, 2018

10.3. Jack Frost hit with a vengeance this week. He is a little late with the first frost, but did it up good when he hit! Now I just have to clean out my tomato plants and sunflowers to get ready for winter, which will be here shortly!

I spent a few days in Billings this week with my grandkids. Those turn-about's are wicked!

When I got home from Billings I noticed that one more old building was not standing in Loring! It was not taken down on purpose, but a rolling truck can do some damage!

I see that some of the cattle are in their winter pastures. Hopefully, they have enough grass to eat for a few weeks! Winter wheat seeding is finished up. Wish the best conditions for it in the spring!

Keira Simonson and Diesel won in Dillon at the college rodeo there. So happy for her after these years of working with Diesel!

The geese should be forming up the v's getting ready for the trip south! Haven't seen any huge gaggles yet.

The Loring Woman’s Club met at the home of Gale Simonson on Wednesday. Discussions included the Annual Fall Dance, the Loring Hall and clean up.

A group of concerned citizens got together at Kenny Clark's to discuss the condition of the Loring Hall. The officers of the hall board were elected with Kenny being President, Jay Blunt, Vice President, and Whitney Blunt secretary-treasurer. The next meeting will be on Oct. 11 at 7 at Kenny Clark's home. Trustees will be elected at this time. The roof of the hall is in dire need of repair.

Let's go! We can survive this weather...because we live in Montana and that is what Montanan's do!

10.7. As I write this on Sunday afternoon, the robins are having a ball in our bird bath! I bet there are Fifty or so taking turns in our six-foot dish turned into a bird bath! They splash around and then fly to the pine trees to dry off and then repeat! Several yellow-rumped warblers get in for a bit also!

I had the good fortune to attend the seafood boil at the Blueridge Brewery on Friday, with Lu Besel, Sue and Bob Kaluza. So lovely, large lobsters, plenty of shrimp, andouille, clams, mussels, corn on the cob, potatoes, onion, and garlic cooked up in a big pot, dumped on the table and eaten with your fondue fork! Oh for gluttonous! And it seemed well attended!

Jeannie Schroeder, Saige, and Zoey spent the weekend with Rodney Stordahl and grandma and Papa Stordahl.

Most of the Loring people attended the Annual Fall Loring Dance! The band Rock Solid Country was great, I think all the musicians can also sing! Connie Scheffelmaer won the Traeger and Jason Ulrich won the Amazon spot! Enjoy!

I love going to buy groceries if I have plenty of time. I always see someone who I haven't seen for a while and they have time to visit, too! This week I saw Jimmy Murdock so he brought me up to speed on what's happening in his family! Nancy Murdock has moved back to Malta and I haven't even seen her yet! But the next day, I did see her in a different store! She looks very happy and is enjoying teaching again!

We've had some rain this week and the prairie is actually turning green! So thankful!
