'Soups on' at Malta Senior Center on October 13

That's right, the soup is once again on at the Malta Senior Center on Saturday, October 13, from 11:30-1:30.

A wide array of soups, breads, and desserts will tempt the fussiest of appetites so come on over to the center at 110 S 1st Street West. All ages are welcome to this free will offering event. The Phillips County Transit bus will provide rides for those that do not have transportation, simply call 654-5301 to reserve your seat.

Some of the soups are homemade noodles with chicken, an amazing red bean soup, taco soup, cheeseburger soup, stew, featuring all garden vegetables, chili, and lentil featuring ham and hamburger. Various loaves of bread and desserts will top off the dinner.

This fundraising event goes towards the laying of new tile in the entryway of the center. Our Indian Taco dinner allowed the center to repair the roof; our building is in need of new windows on the south side of the unit which will probably wait until spring.

In the past, donations have gone towards a new furnace complete with A/C, new kitchen cabinets, stove, refrigerator and dishwasher (appliances purchased at Art's Furniture), tile in the kitchen and a back storage room. The wish list is long as the building is relativity old and is in need of repair regularly.

For those new to our area, if you are 55 of age or older, you may join the Malta Senior Center for a mere $15 per year.

Groups and or individuals may rent the hall for $35 per day (no alcoholic beverages allowed), two TOPS groups meet each Tuesday; bridge is on Monday evening and Wednesday afternoon-more bridge players are needed if you are interested and you do not have to be 55 to play. Whist is Tuesday afternoon and pinochle is Thursday afternoon. Call 654-1392 for more information on any of the events.

The Hearing Aid Institute from Gt Falls offers services the third Friday of each month and last but not least, the Baptist Church meets each Sunday beginning at 10:30. a.m., and lentil featuring ham and hamburger. Various breads and desserts will top off the dinner.
