One Nation, Under God

Rough takeoff

I like coffee. No, I love coffee!

I enjoy it very strong, black, and fresh. Every. Single. Morning.

But not this morning because I'm sick. And it hasn't been very fun.

I have my Keurig set to warm up at around 5:30 a.m. so that all I have to do is rinse the pod holder and put a new pod in. After that, I press the button and out comes liquid energy.

I have grown fond of the Keurig because it is so easy to clean and the amount of caffeine seems to be less than when I brew coffee in my French Press.

I will admit it took me several buys to find my favorite coffee brew, but I have one. Black Magic; Of course the name sounds contrary to any type of beverage that a Christian should be drinking, but it is strong, bold, and flavorful.

While going out of town to check out the closing stores in Havre, I found Chock Full O' Nuts, a brand that originated in New York. I have always loved the flavor of that brand of coffee, but to have it made in the always dependable Keurig sounded amazing. So, I did what anyone would do when a twelve pack was less than three dollars; I bought four packs.

I have been drinking that stuff for a while, almost religiously. But not today.

Nope. Today I have a cold, as I did the day before. Fearing that I may make my cold worse, I have sworn off caffeine for a few days.

Things started off so positive despite this sickness. I got the kids to school and I have gotten quite a bit done in the first few hours of the day.

But since 11 a.m., I have not been able to stop yawning. I may or may not have a headache coming on and I am feeling the need to catch a few Zzzz's. Of course, those could be the symptoms of missing out on caffeine but it may also be because I am sick and should've stayed home.

So if you saw me at the Malta-Fairfield game on Friday, September 28, and I looked rough, it's probably because I was sick and didn't have one single drop of coffee

It's incredible to me how much PJ is learning at his daycare. He comes home every evening and always has a new drawing, new story, or a new letter of the alphabet to talk about.
