North Country drops three ahead of Malta tilt

The North Country Lady Mavericks played their final home game of the year in Whitewater last week against Harlem and were defeated in four sets, 25-23, 20-25, 25-15, and 25-19 before dropping two more contests on Saturday as they faced both Brodus and Circle.

Against Harlem, Kia Wasson led the team in kills as she accounted for 9 of the team's 16 total; the Lady Mavs were paced in digs by Elise Strommen with 13, and Kaitlyn McColly with 12 (team totaled 47); McColly led the way in blocks with 6 of the team's 13; Jaycee Erickson had 9 of the team's 12 assists, and Strommen led the way in aces with 4 of the team's nine.

In the first contest on Saturday against Broadus, the Lady Mavs fell in four, 21-25, 18-25, 25-21 and 25-16.

In the loss, Strommen and Wasson each had 10 digs (the team totaled 42); McColly and Jaydyn Erickson each had 4 aces (12 total for the team); Jaycee Erickson had 11 of the team's 17 assists; and McColly led the way in kills as she accounted for 8 of the team's 26 and blocks with a total of 8 of the team's 17.

The final match of the week went the way of Circle as North Country pushed them to six sets, but fell 4-2, 25-22, 17-25, 28-26, 21-25 and 8-15.

Jaycee Erickson and Wasson each had 2 aces (team totaled 7); Wasson notched 24 digs and McColly another 22 (team totaled 87); Jaycee Erickson had 15 of the team's 24 assists; McColly and Wasson shared the team lead in kills with 12 each (37 total), and Jayden Erickson notched 8 bocks, McColly another 6, as the team totaled 25.
