One Nation, Under God

Up, up, and away

INFOAhead of Monday morning's performance at Dodson Public Schools, Supaman told the PCN "We are going to rock them!"

Supaman is a man of his word.

Supaman - Christian Takes the Gun Parrish - came to Dodson on Monday morning as part of his portion of the Northeastern Arts Network Big Sky Concert series and entertained nearly 100 Coyote students, teachers and administrators, blending Indigenous dance, drums, and flute, with comedy and Hip Hop beats and lyrics which kept everyone in attendance laughing and their heads nodding.

Supaman started the morning with a prayer in Apsaalooke - he is a member of the Apsaalooke Nation - before welcoming the Coyotes to his show.

"Turn to your neighbor, shake their hand and tell them you are glad they're here," Supaman said. "Now turn to your other neighbor, give them a high-five and tell him I am glad you are alive, son."

Supaman spoke of being positive members in society as well as understanding their culture and language and embracing them.

"Realize the legacy that you all carry with you," he said. "Conduct yourself in a respectful manner every day knowing that you have that legacy."

His message included jokes throughout the morning, keeping everyone engaged.

Songs on the morning by Supaman included the Prayer Loop Song in which he mixed drums, flute, beatbox - all live - into his mixer before rapping over the beat.

" I pray for the single mothers and the deadbeat dads...Drop the kids off and go party, gets me mad...So I pray...Pray for peace, I pray for change...Keep on praying when everything stays the same," he rapped.

Following the morning performance in Dodson, Supaman bound over to Malta High School for a show for the students before the big concert Monday evening in that school's Auditorium. The Monday shows were followed by shows for the Saco and Hinsdale Schools on Tuesday morning, concluding his Phillips County performances, before making his way to Glasgow Middle School.
