One Nation, Under God

Roger Leroy Green

Roger Leroy Green 86, passed away at home November 3, 2018, with his wife and daughters by his side. He returned home under the directions of Peace Hospice and was lovingly cared for by his wife and daughters.

Roger was born June 17th. 1932 in Forks, Mont, in a three-room homestead, the seventh of eight children, born to George and Ethel Green. In 1945 a car wreck took the lives of both parents. Roger was in the car and suffered serious injuries. He spent his school years between his two married sisters. Mostly with Margaret, and they formed a close bond. In 1950 he met Myrna Turner. They were married in 1952 and had three children, Wayde, Karen, and Kim. Roger farmed in the Content and South Wagner areas until moving to Great Falls in 1966.

Margaret had lost her husband and Roger knew he should be the one to help his sister. Roger worked at General Distributing until a back injury forced him to quit and have surgery. In 1973 he went to work for the Great Falls School District and was a 1st engineer at Great Falls High, retiring in1992.

In 1974, contact was made with relatives in Norway. All contact was lost when his father died, although attempts were unsuccessfully made. Roger, Myrna, Kim, and sister Mildred made the first trip to Norway. One sibling, a brother of his fathers was still alive. It was a joyous reunion. Roger and Myrna made a second trip in later years. Several of the relatives in Norway made trips to Montana. In 1994, we purchased a motor home and traveled all 48 states. We also traveled to Australia, New Zealand, and England. Roger loved woodworking and built many beautiful keepsakes for his family. He also loved to remodel houses and with Wayde, built a cabin in the Lincoln area, which we enjoyed for 27 years.

Roger was preceded in death by his son Wayde, four brothers George, Donald, Dale, and Carl, and sister Margaret. He is survived by his wife Myrna of Great Falls; daughters, Karen (Mike) Lyon of Mead, Wash. Kim Green of Great Falls. Five grandchildren Jeff and April (Wayde). Chani, Lacey, and Alice (Karen). Twelve great-grandchildren, and daughter-in-law Terrie Green of Seattle. Roger is survived by his sister, Mildred Boothe, of Billings, Mont.; and brother Robert Green of Carson City, Nev.
