Keystone Pipeline Phillips County Meeting postponed

Last week, U.S. District Judge Brian Morris ordered a new environmental review of Keystone XL and following that ruling, TransCanada, the company seeking the pipeline through a small portion of Phillips County, released a statement stating they would be postponing their scheduled November 13 meeting in Malta.

“In light of this decision, we are postponing our meeting on Tuesday, November 13, in Malta, Mont. We understand your time is valuable and we did not want to go forward with a meeting when we are still actively assessing the judge’s decision,” an email from Brittany Brockway, TransCanada Community Relations and Stakeholder Specialist, stated. “We remain committed to building this important energy infrastructure project. This project has undergone years of extensive environmental review and we believe it can be built safely and with care and respect for the environment.”

The PCN was never made aware of the November 13 meeting.

The email goes on to state that while TransCanada reviews the judge’s order, they have suspended their U.S. activity, including the construction of workforce camps that were scheduled to be in Phillips County and Valley County.
