Six townships in the southern part of the county were opened for homesteading. Many "squatters" were awaiting the filing date.

Miss Lily Noble and Arthur J. Westerman were married at a ceremony performed at the Fifth Avenue Hotel.

Word was received of the death in France on October 10, of Harold Clark, son of Mrs. Louisa Clark.

Herb Stucke was elected chief of the Malta Fire Department. Harry Lyden was assistant chief.

William Driver was among the soldiers in the AEF assigned to duty with the army of occupation in Germany.
