Phillips County News - One Nation, Under God

Another Christmas Edition in the Books & a Big Thank you

December 19, 2018

Aloha from the PCN Publisher’s Desk…AKA Santa’s Phillips County Workshop, this week.

I would like to thank all the students, teachers, and administrators for all the work they put into getting Your Community Newspaper all the letters to Santa, Christmas stories, and Christmas colorings once again this year. This a laborious task for everyone involved and it couldn’t happen without each and everyone of you. Thank you, again.

Each year, the process of getting all this data gets a little bit easier, but, unfortunately, mistakes are made on our end. Each year, there are over 10,000 words in Santa letters, at least another 10,000 in Christmas stories and then nearly 300 colorings, each scanned in, one by one and then labeled and reimported into desktop publishing software.

A good word to describe said process is “yikes!” There might be a “few” typos here and there and probably a few names spelled incorrectly. We apologize and will continue to try to be 100-percent correct next year (but don’t hold your breath unless blue is your favorite shade.)

Here at the PCN, we are already looking toward next year’s Christmas issue with eyes on improving how we get things done (and, truth be told, we will probably forget those improvement ideas in about 14-hours after this newspaper is out as we move on to other things…but our intentions are good.)

We would like to let the children of Phillips County know that if your letter to Santa, your colorings, or stories didn’t make this week’s edition of the PCN, fret not. Santa got all the goodies you sent him and has taken note. Whether you were naughty or nice is up to you and him, so don’t worry too much if we didn’t get your name in the paper. You are covered.

We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and encourage all of you to visit our local businesses and sponsors this holiday season as without them, the newspaper wouldn’t be printed.

Thanks for reading and Mele Kalikimaka.
