One Nation, Under God

Programs dedicated to Veterans shine again in 2018

"Change for Veterans"

Started in late October and running through the end of November perhaps you noticed the containers placed around town at various businesses. The project was introduced and then spear-headed by Michelle Stevens to the American Legion Auxiliary Post 57. The containers were placed to encourage individuals to donate their "change" to make a "change for Veterans". The containers were prepared by Auxiliary members, the Juniors of the Auxiliary and community members. The "change" was to go toward assisting homeless Veterans and help make a change in their lives. Nearly $700 was collected and the funds were provided to The Grace Home in Great Falls which houses homeless and displaced Veterans. The Unit extends a warm thank you to all those who donated to this worthwhile project and look forward to your assistance next fall. You helped make a difference in the lives of Veterans in need.

"Gone but not Forgotten"

"GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN"...as the saying goes...and as the year closes out the local VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries once again paid tribute and honor to the Veterans our community has lost this year. Last year the project began and 16 ornaments were created and placed on the Christmas tree at the VFW Club. This year an additional 26 were placed to remember the men who have died since Christmas of 2017. The auxiliary members and young ladies of the "Juniors" and Sons of the American Legion youth were instrumental in getting the project up and running and the public is welcome to stop by the Club Monday through Saturday from 4 to 8 pm to look at the collection. The tree will be up until sometime after the New Year's entrance, stop by and check them out.
