100 years ago

January 17, 1919

Charles Buttolph, wounded in battle in France, had returned to his home in Saco.


Dale Waters and Miss Chlorine Oloman had gone to Mt. Vernon, Ill., Miss Oloman planned to remain there, and Dale would return to Malta in time for spring work on the farm.


Robert Merrill (past president of the VFW) was visiting friends in Malta after his return from overseas. Merrill left for the army from Malta.


A farmers institute was to be held in Malta in February 24, with M. L. Wilson, of the state extension office, to be the principal speaker.
