One Nation, Under God

I should stick to sports

Disclaimer: I am cheesy and definitely not always correct, so take these next words with a grain of salt. I mean well, even if it doesn’t translate well.

For most of my life, Valentine’s Day has been a cloudy day. The day has been better the past seven years now that I have found my true love and wife Susan.

While I am perfectly content with my love life nowadays, I know that there are a ton of people that are currently as bitter as I was in my teenage years and earlier adult years.

I wanted to drop a few words that may encourage those folks. That is my aim at least.

To that young lady or young man that feels like you will never find love, I say stay strong. Learn patience and work on yourself. Work on your body, mind, and spirit. Work on a plan that will set yourself up with a solid foundation, so that you can help support yourself and your future significant other.

To that young lady or young man that feels they aren’t lovely or wanted. Get that thought out of your head. You deserve the best and a person that treats you like royalty. Maybe you just haven’t found the right situation. I do believe that there is a person for everyone in this life. The bummer is you may not have found that person yet or they may not have found you.

To those in the faith, I say do what I did. Back when I was single, I was told by a friend to look at Philippians 4:4-20 and apply it to your relationship status. Pray it and remember to rejoice in all things.

Reminiscing on my own story, I can remember the crushes and ex-girlfriends (both of them) that I was so infatuated with, and I know that my wife is so much better for me than anyone else in my past. It is okay to catch feelings but sometimes those feelings pale in comparison to what your future may bring.

Don’t give up hope! Keep working on yourself and celebrating who you are. As the saying goes, how can anyone love you if you don’t love yourself?

I was about to delete this because I am not a doctor and it sounded super-duper cheesy. But it’s my opinion and I hope it helps someone that may be hurting this Valentine’s Day.
