One Nation, Under God

Robert Alan Olson

MALTA- Robert Alan Olson died February 11, 2019, at his Malta home. He was born May 26, 1955, in Havre, Montana, to Marlan and Donna Olson. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Condolences for his family may be left at http://www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com

He graduated from Malta High School and continued his education for a year at Northern Montana College. He then started his career working in the assay labs of Pegasus and Florida Canyon Gold Mining Companies. He was very proud of the numerous safety awards he earned. His career was cut short in 2001 when he underwent a ten-hour surgery on his spine to stabilize and repair damage from the devastating disease Neurofibromatosis. His doctors told him that it was not possible for him to return to work.

Bob enjoyed his Bible Study groups and appreciated the way they strengthened his relationship with the Lord. Serving others was important to Bob so he gave of his time to take a leadership role in AA. He was also an avid Mustang fan who cheered on the youth of the community. Camping and fishing were his passions. His favorite fishing trip was to Alaska where he caught salmon in the Kuskokwim River and halibut and sea bass in Resurrection Bay. Most of all, Bob enjoyed his family and reveled in being a good uncle.

He is survived by his mother, his sisters Pauline (John) Carochi and Laura (Frank) Jones, his brother James (Bernie) Olson, his nephews David (Brandy) Jones, Jeremy (Elizabeth) Carochi, Robert James Olson; his nieces Andrina (Ronnie) Starika, and Danielle (Jeromy) Mulvany. The lights of his life were his great nephews and nieces: Aubrey and Natalie Starika, Riley and Blake Carochi, Ryan Jones, and Quinn Olson and Isabelle Wagner. He was preceded in death by his father.

In lieu of memorials, the family asks that in Robert's memory you reach out to those who are alone.
