Mustangs head to Shelby

The Mustangs are set for action after a week away from games. The team enters this week's Northern B Divisional as the fourth seed from District 2B.

The Northern B is scheduled to take place from Thursday, February 28, to Saturday, March 2, in Shelby.

The Mustangs are set to take on the District 1B champion Rocky Boy Northern Stars. The Stars won the 1B title over the Fairfield Eagles 56-53 on Saturday, February 16, in Shelby.

The Northern Stars have bested the Mustangs twice this season, including a 63-36 win over Malta in the team's first clash on Friday, January 4, in Rocky Boy. Malta fared better in the second meeting, losing 43-38. The game is scheduled to open the three day event at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 28.

Depending on how the Mustangs finish they will take on the Choteau Bulldogs or Wolf Point in the next round. Choteau and Wolf Point are scheduled to play at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On the other side of the bracket, the Poplar Indians will take on the hometown Shelby Coyotes at 6:30 p.m on Thursday. The Glasgow Scotties will take on the Fairfield Eagles at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

According to a press release from Malta High School, The Mustang team bus will depart for Shelby on Wednesday, February 27th at 4:15 p.m. from the Northeast door.

All-session tournament passes for the 2019 Northern B Division Boys Basketball Tournament must be purchased at Shelby High School. The cost of an adult pass is $22.00 and a student pass is $17.00. Single session tickets are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students.
