One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News and Opinion for March 20, 2019

Did you set your clocks forward one hour? Spring forward!

Get well to Ray McMullen; come home to Whitewater soon.

Sympathy to family and friends of Annie Jefferson. Annie came to Whitewater Lutheran Church with Pastor Nagy for years. She helped at church in different ways. Before church time, she stopped at my house to make sure I was up and getting ready for church. Then she would walk me to church. She will be missed by all.

Many from Whitewater Lutheran Church attended Annie’s funeral services.

Dixie Stordahl attended the Senior Meals at the North 40 and helped at Whitewater School. Dixie retired and continues to write the “Loring News” for the PCN. Dixie, your bird stories and information are very interesting. Here in Whitewater, we have little, tiny snow birds. It’s a wonder they haven’t frozen. Today they are really singing.

The weather warmed, but we still have tons of snow and now ice. Walk and drive carefully.

Recently, the electricity went out for several hours. Our faithful Big Flat Electric repaired and got the power back on. Maybe part of the electric problem was the frost on the powerlines and equipment. The frost covered everything and some of the trees in town looked like a picture from a lovely postcard.

But now it has all melted and this area is warm.

It is hard to believe that it is already Lenten season. Whitewater Lutheran Church Soup Suppers, followed by evening Lenten services, start at 5:30 and 6 p.m. respectively, on Wednesday evening from now until Easter. All are welcome to attend both.

Happy birthday to all March birthdays and anniversaries.

As always,

Helen A., Whitewater Penguin
