M-ettes land two on All-Conference list

Two M-ettes were named to the 2018-19 District 2B Basketball Honors team including junior Kelbee Denham who made the All-State team and earned a spot on the first team. Senior Kloie Marks received second-team honors.

Both Marks and Denham were a part of the 2017 State B Runner Up team that fell one point in their loss to Fairfield.

Denham led Malta in scoring before her season-ending injury late in the season. Denham ended the season with 156 points (9.75 PPG), 75 rebounds, 55 assists, and 37 steals.

“Kelbee brought really good poise to the team by handling the ball a lot and she was a nice offensive threat, leading us in scoring and assists,” M-ette Head Coach Nate Hammond said.

Marks led the M-ettes in scoring with a total of 188 points (8.5 PPG). Marks also had 128 rebounds, 47 assists, and 47 steals.

“Kloie is just so versatile,” Coach Hammond said. “We would have her play every position on the floor in some of our zone defenses.”

Though she was not named to the All-Conference list, sophomore Erica Smith was second in scoring with 173 points, first in steals with 49, and she was fourth in assists with 41. Junior Carly Garfield was fourth in scoring with 145 points. Senior Kyleigh Schipman was fifth in points with 144.
