One Nation, Under God

Loring News for April 10, 2019

Here we are starting the second week of April! We have had super warm temps this week, even the lows were above freezing! We just have a small snirty snow pile left. Snirty is a word I learned from Ivan Doig. It means dirt blown on a snow bank. A falcon was chasing a smaller bird and stopped to rest in our pine trees. He had a barred tail and the back was polka dotted. It was bigger than a kestrel and not as colorful. And I thought the snowy owl was gone to the northern climes already, but I saw one twice this week! Jeanie Green has picked a crocus already so spring is here!

Jonnae Slade has been spending some time with her parents and sisters this past week. Kenna accompanied her to Loring Lutheran Church on Sunday and definitely won this writer's heart! Bella Lawless was with her and the Blunt kids certainly mobbed her! So awesome to see!

Kenny and Brenda Clark took a well deserved weekend off to Glasgow for a date weekend! The kids stayed with Grandma Cindy and Grandpa Dave!

I got a letter from Betty Munson who used to live in Dodson but now resides in Havre! She encouraged me to keep writing! I began writing this column because my mom Barbara Cowan, wanted to let other people know that things were happening in Loring, Montana! So I told her I'd do it. But if anyone else wants to I could let them. I'm a pretty basic person not too flowery, but I guess that's good for newspapers. Thank you, Betty! I enjoyed your delightful letter!

The town of Malta was very active this weekend! The Swish Fest brings kids from around the state to play in a multilevel tournament, in four gyms! Several of our residents participated and congrats to them!

I just love driving along and seeing the baby calves playing or sleeping and eating a little! Morrisons, Simantons, and Andersons have some adorable calvies!

Tom Stordahl spent a couple of days in the hospital with three fractured ribs. While I was in visiting on Sunday, I visited some old Loringites at the HLRC. It is good to see that they are taken care of! I visited Glenn Compton and Betty Jo who was also visiting him. Ruth and John Flansaas were over visiting friends too, including Dagmar Farsted. I checked up on Leroy Dyrdahl who grinned when I brought up an incident that Tom had with the combine over at Leroy's farm! Then I made it down to Marie Wasson who helped me pick out a couple of jigsaw puzzles! All in all, an enjoyable day!
