City of Malta to hold Spring Clean Up Week

The City of Malta is planning a community Spring Cleaning event that will start on Monday, April 29 and run until May 3, in hopes of clearing rubbish, trash and other garbage out of the City’s alleys.

“Any unwanted items excluding old refrigerators, oil, and batteries of any kind,” said Malta Public Works Director Jim Truelove. “The City’s Crew and equipment will pick up and discard any unwanted items in hopes of beautifying our town.”

Director Truelove said that any citizens who need assistance moving items to be picked up during the Spring Cleaning should call him at 406-301-3264 or the Malta City Hall at 406-654-1251.

He said that refuse picked up by the City Crew will be taken to the Malta City Landfill at no charge to any citizens.

“The City used to do something like this in the past and we felt it is time to bring the service back to the people of Malta, at least on a temporary basis. After this year’s event, we will assess if it is needed again in the coming years,” Director Truelove said.

Director Truelove added that this will be a “all-hands on deck” week where the City Crew's staff and equipment will be focused on the Spring Cleanup.

The City of Malta Spring Cleanup is not to be confused with the City of Malta Parks and Rec Clean Up Day scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, in which local groups meet to clean up locations in Malta such as the parks. For more questions or for help moving items call either Director Jim Truelove or the Malta City Hall.
