Laser tag zaps into town April 26 & 27

Get ready to take aim at the Milk River Pavilion as the Malta Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes Bad Bear Laser Tag April 26 and 27 as a family-friendly event beams into Malta.

“It is going to be a lot of fun and something different for the people of Phillips County to try out,” Malta Chamber Executive Director Ann Sautter said.

The Laser Tag fundrasier for the Malta Chamber comes on the heels of the Flight Squad basketball exhibition last year and Donkey Basketball the year before. Money raised at Malta Chamber events is used to promote growth in the community and help fund such events as hospitality rooms at local basketball games. Sautter said she met the owners of Bad Bear Laser Tag who live north of Saco after moving to Phillips County from Billings.

“She told me about their company, and I asked her if they ever do fundraisers and they indeed have,” Sautter said. “One thing led to another, and at the Chamber Board Meeting, we decided laser tag was a good idea because we wanted something for all ages.”

The two-day event breaks down like this: April 26 for ages 14-through-20 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. there will be adult beverages for sale for adults 21+(everyone will be carded at the door for this portion of the event), and on April 27 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. for all ages. Sautter said that Friday will be more food oriented (with vendors in attendance) and on Saturday, more snack-oriented. There will also be photo opportunities throughout the event.

Bad Bear Laser Tag — co-owned by Bonnie DeVerniero — says that their events are 50-percent action, 50-percent entertainment, and 100-fun.

“Many children have the smaller version of laser tag at their homes,” Sautter said. “This is a large version of Laser Tag and the guns are the size of a real gun.”

Sautter said that inside the Pavilion will be outfitted with barriers and bases as a laser tag course is set up and contestants are broken into teams and pitted against one another and there can be up to 22 people on the course, split into two teams.

Ticket prices for the event are $20 for adults, $15 for children above 8 and $10 for children 7 and under.

“Pack up the family and head on down to the Pavilion,” Sautter said. "It is going to be a great time."
