Spring Style Show happening Sunday

The 2019 Family Matters Spring Style Show and Salad Luncheon is set to kick off at 1 p.m. this Sunday, April 28.

The event, which started in the early 2000's will be held in the Lodge Room of the Great Northern Hotel. The event also features a store wide sale of 20-percent off at Family Matters following the show until 4 p.m.

The event features giveaways and door prizes during the show. The cost for the event will be $15 for Adults and $5 for Children 10 and Under. Tickets are available at Family Matters and the Phillips County Museum, but tickets will also be available at the door.

The event was formerly known as the Mother's Day Style Show, but the show was moved up a weekend a few years ago.

"We moved it up a week, so it would be in the last week of April," Avery Sorenson, Family Matters Store Manager said. "We usually have around fifty models varying from ages from babies to women probably in their sixties. Sometimes we get women in their seventies too."

The event isn't a pageant show and models need not be worried about being judged.

"We try to find models of all shapes and sizes because that's how the majority of the population is," Sorenson said. "Not every one is the same shape, so we try to incorporate different body styles."

This year, as well as past years, the event features models from all over Eastern Montana.

"We usually have a couple of different groups from Chinook, Havre, and Glasgow," Sorenson said. "Last year we had a car of gals come from Opheim. The word is getting out that we are doing it."

This year's event has 55 models signed up as of Monday, April 22. Though a lot of the models have been a part of the show, Family Matters is always looking for new faces to model their latest fashions.

"It's a fundraiser for the H.G. Robinson Home and Gardens, so the proceeds from tickets that the ladies purchase for the salad luncheon go there to help maintain the grounds," Sorenson said. "I know that they have bought a lawnmower with those proceeds (in the past)."

The event for the past several years has hosted anywhere from 70 to 100 attendees.

Those in attendance will not only be helping the Robinson house, they can also reap the benefits of winning door prizes and receiving gift cards.

"We like to give out gift cards during the show and we also give out gift cards for the museum and a few other different things," Sorenson said.

Sorenson mentioned a fun fact of the event is that the Neibur twins Dally and Arena have been in the show since they were four years old. They are now eighth graders.

"They have not missed a year," Sorenson said.
