One Nation, Under God
The Phillips County Library has an Outer Space theme this summer for its reading program. We encourage preschoolers, through coming high school seniors; to sign up and earn an award for every five hours of reading up to 40 hours. Sign up will begin the first week of June. It is important to read during the school break to help avoid the “summer slump.”
The library will have a puppet show this year, at 10:00 am on July 11, 2019. It is titled “The Dragon Who Fell to Earth.,” and will be held at the Library basement meeting room. It is free and open to the public.
It is with great appreciation that the library says thanks to its sponsors who make the summer reading program such a success. The library has a selection of various items for all the readers who make the first five hours of reading time.
Westside Food Court is making a donation of a Brownie (or cookie, depending on availability) to all the readers who make it up to 10 hours of reading.
At 15 hours of reading time, Horizon Resources is donating a 20 oz. Slush Puppy when the participants reach that goal.
It is appreciated that Joe’s In and Out, are sponsoring the 20-hour award of a small Cyclone.
To further cool things down a bit for summer, the Dairy Queen will give the readers a Mini Blizzard when they reach 25 hours.
Westside Food Court makes its second contribution to the program at 30 hours. Participants who read to 30 hours will be given a Personal Pan Pizza.
Crossroad Coffee is staying with the summer reading program by donating a 12 oz. Italian Soda to the readers who read up to 35 hours.
And for the 40-hour prize; Stretch’s Pizza will give readers a one-topping Personal Pan Pizza.
The summer reading program will run for eleven weeks this year. The program will end on Friday, August 9, 2019 with an Ice Cream Sundae party at the library basement meeting room at 2:30 pm.
