One Nation, Under God

Word from the Sheriff on Fireworks in Malta City Limits:

As the City of Malta Ordinance reads right now, it is illegal to fire off fireworks within the City limits and up to 5 miles out of the city limits, unless certain restrictions are met. In year’s past, we’ve made exceptions to this rule on the 4th of July to celebrate the patriotism of our great country. Your Sheriff’s Office asks that you are respectful to your fellow friends and neighbors and adhere to this practice. It is in the works to have the ordinance changed to allow the firing of fireworks for several days leading up to the 4th of July. This most likely will need to be voted on by the citizens of Malta so it is in your best interest to respect other’s peace and not press the issue. Please confine the firing of fireworks to the 4th of July this year and stop at a reasonable hour. Thank you. – Jerry Lytle
