A 20 Year Length of Service Award was presented to Dale and Janet Veseth by the Glasgow National Weather Service office on June 25th. Dale and Janet have recorded daily high and low temperature, precipitation and snowfall at their ranch south of Malta since 1998.
Some of the more interesting data they've provided the NWS include a one-day rain total of 4.05 inches on August 24, 2014 (which was part of a five day total of 5.77 inches that occurred August 21-25, 2014.) They have also reported a one-day snowfall of 15 inches on December 27, 2003, which was followed by 13.5 inches on the next day! They measured 71.7 inches of snow for the 2017-2018 snow season. The hottest day of their tenure was 109 degrees on July 7, 2007, with a low reading of -43 on December 7, 2003.
