Casey Donahew Band ready for PC Fair Return

Friday night's Phillips County Fair concert features two Country Music heavyweights highlight the 104th

The last time the Casey Donahew Band stepped on stage at the Phillips County Fair in Dodson was in 2015 at the 100th annual event when he opened for Clay Walker and when he was asked what people should expect at that show, he answered that question with a question of his own:

"Other than the greatest time they have ever had?"

Donahew and the boys will co-headline the 104th Phillips County Fair Concert this Saturday, August 3 at 7 p.m. with fellow Country Music stars the Randy Rogers Band and when asked what this year's concert-goers should expect of their performance, Donahew stayed true to form.

"The exact same thing!" he told the PCN. "With an addition to my new album that came out on July 26, 'One Light Town', so we've got some new material to share with you."

'One Light Town' comes in the 17th year of the Casey Donahew Band's musical career and though the band continues to climb Country Music charts and dazzle audiences across the country, the boys don't take their success for granted and continue to try and perfect their craft.

"We've been extremely blessed to still be doing what we love for a living. We are celebrating 17 years in October," Donahew said. "I would like to think we have continued to grow as musicians and artists. And our live show just keeps getting better and better!"

Hailing from Burleson, Texas, the Casey Donahew Band has managed to perform on countless stages night after night in front of thousands, topped the Texas music charts 18 times, according to the group's bio, and released all of his albums independently to critical acclaim, and forged a path all his own through the music scene without the aid or muscle of a major record label or power-suit management company.

A big fan of 80's and 90's country, Donahew had always admired the storytelling in the songs of that period, and when a wild-eyed Oklahoma boy named Garth Brooks began swinging from the rafters and employing all sorts of crazy, rock show antics during his concerts, Casey was immediately hooked.

"I've just always liked the country songs from the 80s," says Donahew. "It seems like a time when there was a lot of great songwriting going on, and I just enjoy people who can tell a story with a song. And I've always been a big Garth Brooks fan, since the beginning. First, there was George Strait, and then here came this guy from Oklahoma, Garth Brooks. And you'd see George standing there playing guitar, but then Garth comes along running all over the stage, playing guitar and singing all these songs that he wrote. And the thing I was always most enamored with about Garth was that he wrote most of those songs. He was just one of those guys who did it all. And he started in Stillwater, not too far from the Red Dirt scene. You could really take a lot of Garth Brooks songs and put 'em on a record of mine, and I think it would fit right in."

Tickets for the event are available at all Malta banks or online at phillipscountyfair.com.
