One Nation, Under God
Hanging in the halls of the Business Center in downtown Malta is a painting of a grizzly bear and no matter where you stand, the animal is looking at you.
Andy Scott painted the grizzly bear shortly after moving to Malta and many who have seen Scott's paintings will agree that he amazingly captures a feeling on canvas and his talent is seen in all of his works of art.
It was 18 years ago when Scott was 17-years-old and a senior at Powell High School in Powell, Wyo., that a tragic wrestling accident left him with a major spinal injury and a quadriplegic.
Scott took up painting at eight years ago following the spinal injury and found he could still produce artwork by placing a paintbrush in his hand. Scott said he wished he would have taken more art classes in high school but has since has taught himself to paint with the aid of videos on the internet.
"He is an amazing person with tremendous talent," a friend of Scott's says. "He has been an inspiration to everyone around him."
Scott is the son of the late Marilyn Bebee Barrows. He moved to Malta to be close to his mother's family. The Bebee family holds a family reunion each July on Independence Day and this past summer 50 friends and family met at Nelson Reservoir to share good times, fun, and laughter and to celebrate Scott, a remarkable young man with a remarkable family.
