Dodson at Poplar Invitational

The Dodson Coyotes High School and Middle School Cross Country teams ran at the Poplar Indian Invitational on Saturday, September 21.

The Meet featured schools from Montana and North Dakota. Despite the tough competition from North Dakota, Dodson’s fourth and final runner Emma Cole qualified for the State meet in Great Falls, late this October.

“Emma Cole ran a state qualifying race!,” Coach Tianna Bloomer said. “So all four of my varsity runners will be going to state: the track was relatively flat and pavement. Almost everyone had a personal best running time.”

Dodson’s top runner was senior Corbin LoneBear, who placed eighteenth in the high school boys meet with a time of 18:27.34.

“Corbin ran his best race yet,” Coach Bloomer said.

Freshmen Lindsey Fetter and Emma Cole crossed the line together, with Fetter crossing first by a shoe lace. Fetter had a time of 30:22.40 and Cole had a time of 30:22.55.

As for the Middle School boys team, seventh grader Chaske Cliff had a time of 9:49.19 in the boys’ 1.55 mile race. Sixth-grader Womni Cliff had a time of 10:55.32. Sixth-grader Lance Snow had a time of 13:06.84 and Skipper Cole, also a sixth-grader had a time of 13:47.68. Eighth-grader Shaylee DeCelles posted a time of 11:40.46 in the Middle School girls’ race. Camryn DeCelles, a sixth-grader, had a time of 12:34.24.

Coach Bloomer was happy to see that the middle school runners were constantly improving.

Dodson Cross Country has two meets this week. The first of which is the Hays Invitational scheduled for Wednesday, September 25, in Hays. The second meet is the Scottie invitational, scheduled for Saturday, September 28, at Fort Peck.
