One Nation, Under God

MHS Ag teachers, past and present, in Havre

Three agricultural educators with teaching ties to Malta High School were recently conversing about their experiences as teachers at Malta High School.

Tom Welch taught at Malta from 1980-81, Milford Wearley from 1981-84, and Christina Fister is a first-year teacher at Malta. All three were at Montana State University-Northern in Havre on Thursday, October 10, and had students participating in and helping with TekNoXpo.

TekNoXpo is an annual event at MSU-Northern and showcases postsecondary career and technical education. Over 300 high school students were able to explore a wide variety of careers related to degree programs offered by Northern. Attending high school students engaged in many hands-on activities related to technologies in agriculture, plumbing, electrical, diesel, ag machinery, civil engineering, automotive, business, machining, advanced fuels, nursing, health promotions and welding. Many current students at MSU-Northern helped plan and conduct the variety of career and technical education activities and shared experiences with visiting high school students. Wearley now teaches agricultural education at Choteau High School and Welch teaches primarily agriculture science and technology courses to students at MSU-Northern.
