One Nation, Under God

Never a good time

INFO I meant to thrive but could only survive as our editor was on vacation.

There is never a great time to get sick, but as Mark left town, an upper respiratory infection ran through me, making the week a lot harder than it needed to be.

I tried to be a hero and work through it, but eventually I ran to the Phillips County Clinic. Before I got there, I couldn’t breathe, my body was sore from coughing, and I had a pounding headache.

It took a while for the good doc to get to me, but I gathered that whatever was causing the doctor to be away was probably a real emergency.

I was asked if I wanted a shot to help get the antibiotics in me sooner. I already knew what came next… Two shots to the rear! I’m a pretty conservative guy when it comes to nudity, so I almost declined the shots though I knew they would help.

I reluctantly took both shots, thinking that it would help me perform better at work with Mark being gone. I got home and stayed up for an hour before I realized that I was exhausted.

I took a two-hour nap, woke up, and realized that I had felt a lot better. The crazy thing is that the room felt ten degrees hotter than it did when I first laid down. I believe that most of the heat I was feeling was body heat.

I refrained from roasting coffee for the next few days because I didn’t want to infect anyone in town. I also did not talk to any athletes or coaches in fear of spreading germs.

Even though it was a rough week to be sick, I am happy to say that we got a paper out and I do hope you all enjoyed it.
