Landusky Foundation Fall Fundraiser set for November 9

The Landusky Foundation will be hosting its annual fall fundraiser on Saturday, November 9, starting at 3 p.m. on a day which will feature a Mexican buffet, drawings, silent auctions, and a pie contest to help raise funds for the Landusky Community Center.

"When the (Landusky) school closed down, the community center was given to the people of Landusky," Darlene Kolczak, Landusky Foundation member said. "So, we started the Fall Fundraiser to help us pay our bills at the community center."

The event will run until 8 p.m. and Kolczak said some of the silent auction items to be bided upon will include gift certificates, a vintage dish set from the 1940s, paintings, honey, almonds, and Salmon.

The day's pie contestants will kick in $5 and all the pies will be judged before a winner is named. Kolczak said for the first time in eight years, last year, Arv Duval didn't win the event because she was unable to compete.

"Sue Dusek won last year with her sour cream and raisin pie," Kolczak said. "Arv is back this year so it should be a good competition...I always finish in last place, so they don't have to worry about me."

The winner of the pie contest gets the money raised from the event's competitors. There will also be two 50-50 split the pot raffles, one for the Landusky Community Center and the other for the Landusky Volunteer Fire Fighters.

The bake sale will feature baked good from community members and the night's menu, as of Monday afternoon, will feature chicken enchiladas and quesadillas, taco soup, chicken enchilada soup, Indian tacos, and pies "for days."

"Your help in giving what you can will go a long way in making sure that the Landusky Foundation will continue to grow and to provide the Landusky community and surrounding area a place to gather and to promote activities that help strengthen the communities," Harold Heppner, Landusky Foundation Chairman, said.
