Coyotes on to State

The Dodson Coyotes Cross Country team has four athletes who will be participating in the Class C State Cross Country Meet on Saturday, October 26 in Great Falls.

Coyote Head Coach Tianna Bloomer broke down who her state competitors are and how the year has been going this year for her team.

Bloomer:

This season would not have been as successful if Pat Ditmar hadn’t joined as my Assistant Coach. He has been a huge blessing to me and the team. His encouragement and dedication to these athletes has helped them gain confidence and succeed. We are very thankful for his support.

Emma Cole- Freshman- Qualified for State at the Poplar meet. Her time was 30:22:55. Emma has improved over this season. She was pretty appalled about how much she actually had to run when she first started practice. Her first race was in Shelby and she barely missed the chance to qualify at that meet. Since that race, she has gained confidence in her running and has run qualifying times since. She is constantly trying to better herself. Her goal at state is to run under 30 minutes. She should have no problem doing so.

Lindsey Fetter- Freshman- Lindsey has been a top runner over her years of running cross country. The increase from a mile and a half to a 5k didn’t seem to faze her. She is a natural runner and makes it look easy. Lindsey qualified for state at our first meet in Lewistown. Her time was 27:57:92. Her best time was at our last meet in Harlem- 24:32. I have yet to see Lindsey truly push herself to her full potential. Our goal for her is to have her finish under 20 minutes. She is fully capable of doing so. I hope she gives her whole heart at State.

Melony Fetter- Junior- This will be Melony’s second appearance at Class C Cross Country State. She ran as a freshman in Helena. Melony is also a natural runner and runs for the pure joy of running. I am waiting to see Melony push herself as hard as she can. She qualified for state at the Lewistown Meet with a time of 30:04.30., this was her slowest time this season. She wasn’t even winded when she finished. Her best time this year was at the Harlem meet where she ran 26:46. It’s been fun having the sisters race together. All three of these girls push and encourage each other and I think it’s just awesome.

Corbin LoneBear- Senior- This man is a different athlete than I have coached over the years. This is his “YEAR”! He is dedicated and devoted and it shows. He’s been preparing since the beginning of summer. It is a joy to watch this kid run! He makes it look effortless. Corbs qualified for State at the Lewistown Meet with a time of 20:41:41. His fastest time this season was at the Poplar Meet with a time of 18:26. His goal for state is to finish in the top 15 with a time in the 17’s. I have been his coach since he was a 7th grader and this kid has come so far and I am so so excited to see him compete at his last State meet. It is always a bittersweet moment when it's their last year. It is even more emotional when you’ve been with them from the beginning and watch them grow from a sweet little 7th grader to a mature, successful, driven athlete. This will be his third state appearance and we wish him all the luck in the world!!

GO COYOTES!
