Stroughmatt brings French Creol, Honky Tonk to Malta

Music lovers have the opportunity to enjoy the Northeast Arts Network's second performance of the year when Dennis Stroughmatt et L'Esprit Creole performs at the Malta High School Auditorium on, Monday, November 4, starting at 7 p.m.

Known today as a master French Creole fiddler, Dennis Stroughmatt was raised with a love for the music of Bob Willis, Ray Price, Tony Booth by his father Jack. Jack was an avid music buff with thousands of records in a collection that dated to the 1930s.

When Dennis began to recognize the music that surrounded him, it was the sound of twin fiddle and steel guitar that got him excited. With time, Dennis eventually became enamored with the French Creole music that was local to southern Illinois and southeast Missouri...but that Honky Tonk sound was ever present.

Dennis would incorporate this Honky Tonk sound with French Creole and then Cajun fiddling as his professional focus.

Please join them for an entertaining, music-filled evening as they perform in the Malta High School to see a spectacular that will leave you humming their infectious melodies and amazed at their showmanship and musical talent!

Tickets will be available at the door. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, and $10 for students (Students with activity passes – free).
