One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News & Opinion for October 30

Sympathy to the family of Ned Mangis who lived 96 years.

A newsflash from Whitewater: A shuttle bus called the “Whitewater Stagecoach” is available on call to travel between Whitewater and Malta! The driver is Verlin (David) Lightfoot who used to drive taxi in Billings, Mont. David used to live at the Whitewater Youth Ranch and attended Whitewater Schools years ago.

Good luck to the Whitewater Stagecoach.

Sunday, October 20, we had church and a delicious Harvest Dinner at Whitewater Lutheran Church. Many from Malta attended and were welcome. Pastor Bob Nagy had returned from vacation and preached. Julie, his wife, and his father attended, too. It was a very nice day.

There are cattle bawling in our Whitewater stockyards. I head they were loaded to be shipped. Since I was raised on a ranch, I made pets of the bum labs and calves, so I do sympathize for the animals.

The gas company (MDU) gas was turned off the other night due to a gas line being hit on accident in the Whitewater area! The faithful gas employees lit our furnaces at 2 a.m.! It was good that the weather was not 40-below, or very cold at all, but the nights since then have been cold.

There’s only three left; if you would like a puppy, call the Scheffelmears at the North 40 (opens at 11 a.m.) and leave a message for Connie.

Reminder: Daylight Savings ends on Sunday, November 3.

Take care,

Helen A.
