Malta Schools facilities usage change start Dec. 1

Starting December 1, 2019, the use of Malta Public School facilities will be “available to the community for educational, civic, cultural and other non-commercial uses,” as per School Board Policy 4330, which is available on the school website or by contacting Malta Public Schools Superintendent Kris Kuehn.

“We have become lax in not following the policy set by the School Board, which is driven in part by the District’s Property and Casualty Insurance carrier,” Superintendent Kuehn told the PCN. “We are not trying to keep the public out of their school buildings but are doing all that we can to ensure that we maintain public safety as well as protecting the District from future liability claims. Unfortunately, events such as birthday parties and Christmas parties are no longer permissible uses of school district facilities. We realize this represents a shift in previous practices and will be upsetting to some. However, public safety while using School District facilities has to be our top priority.”
