Fred Robinson Bridge celebrates its 50th year

On August 16, 1959, over 400 people converged by automobile, airplane, and boat at a remote site on the Missouri River about 70 miles southwest of Malta.

They were there to celebrate the opening of a new bridge across the river, the culmination of a 40-year effort by residents from the area to build it.

The structure was later designated the Fred Robinson Memorial Bridge by grateful Montanans for the man who worked so hard to get it built.
