3rd Annual Nite At The Races for St. Mary's Parish

St. Mary’s Parish is holding The Nite At The Races fundraiser again this year. This is the 3rd Annual event for St. Mary’s. The event includes 10 races with 10 horses in each race. The races are a video of actual races on the large tracks in Florida.

The Professional racetrack announcer calls the horses by their actual names which appear in the Official Past Performance Race Programs which will be available the night of the event. The race programs contain true and authentic statistics as to the day and month each horse has run in several prior outings, the track raced on, time of winner, track condition, weight carried, past position, speed rating, sex, color, and the win/place/show record among other vital information.

A person can become a racehorse owner by buying a horse for $20.00 each. There will only be ten racehorse owners during the night. The winning horse owners will be put in a drawing for a large prize at the end of the night.

With each meal ticket purchased, the person will receive $25.00 in horserace money to bet with. There will be mutual windows to bet on the horses before each race and the payout for the winning horse will be calculated just like they are at a regular racetrack. There will be another prize for the person who has the largest winnings at the end of the night. There will also be a silent auction, door prizes and a 50/50 drawing.

The event is Saturday, February 8th at the Tin Cup. There will be a no host social hour from 5-to 6- p.m. This is a great time to buy your horses and look over the auction items. The roast beef dinner with dessert starts at 6 p.m. followed by the races at 7 p.m.

This year we are again offering six person tables for $125.00 and eight person tables for $175. The number of tables is limited. Tickets are available at First State Bank, Bank of Malta, Independence Bank, the Liquor Haven and Blue Ridge Brewing. If you wish to buy a table, contact Brenda Rummel at 301-0936.
